Fund Assistance Programs
The Lethbridge Soccer Association is proudly partenered with several sport funding programs. Cost keeps 1 out of 3 Canadian kids out of organized sport. If you need help with player fees the following organizations are available:
Kidsport
“From humble beginnings and big dreams to the National stage and even bigger impact – our story has always been about kids and sport. We began as a program of Sport BC, with a goal to help families overcome the prohibitive cost of sport. Since then we’ve expanded across Canada, giving tens of thousands of kids each year the opportunity to participate in organized sport. in 25 years nearl 1 million kids have gotten into the game.”
JumpStart
“Giving kids the opportunity to access sport and play is essential for their growth and development, which is why Jumpstart funds a variety of different sports and activities all with the goal of giving all kids the chance to discover their passion. It’s a chance to boost their self-esteem. A chance to nurture their creativity and help them do better in school. It’s a chance to connect them to their communities, so they can be a part of something bigger.”
City Fee Assistance Program
Launched in November 2015, the City of Lethbridge offers a Fee Assistance program for residents who face financial barriers to participating in recreational and cultural opportunities.
During registration, you will be required to pay the full amount out of pocket. Following registration, you may apply for funding through the organization of your choice. Should your application be approved, the funding organization will issue a cheque directly to us. Upon receipt of the cheque, we will promptly issue a refund to your original method of payment.
Join the Club
Ready to lace up? Becoming an LSA player is simple: pick your season (indoor or outdoor), choose the program that fits—LYS for recreational fun and development, or LFC for a more competitive pathway—and complete the quick online registration. We welcome all experience levels and group teams by age (and, for most groups, by boys/girls) so every player feels at home. Bring shin guards, proper footwear, and a water bottle—we’ll handle jerseys and schedules. If cost is a concern, ask us about financial assistance; we’re committed to keeping soccer accessible for every family.
Want to make a real impact? Volunteer as an LSA coach—no pro experience required. We provide training, session plans, and mentorship so you can create a safe, positive environment that emphasizes fun, learning, and equal playing time. You bring enthusiasm and consistency; we’ll support you with scheduling, resources, and a great community. A background check and adherence to our Code of Conduct are required—we’ll guide you through every step.
Love the game and great with people? Become an LSA referee and help keep our matches safe, fair, and fun—while building leadership skills on the field. New officials start with an approved entry-level course (we’ll point you to current dates), then receive local mentorship, game resources, and assignments that fit your schedule. You’ll gain confidence fast, work with supportive coaches and players, and earn match fees as you progress. Ready to whistle your first game?
